Inpatients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (>5 mg/day) no specimen should be taken until at least 8 hours after the last biotin administration.

A morning fasting specimen preferred.

Collection Medium:

Pink top tube 6 mL (K2-EDTA)

Minimum:

Preferred Minimum: 1 mL plasma in Pink top tube
Absolute Minimum: 0.5 mL plasma in Pink top tube

Rejection Criteria:

Hemolyzed specimens.

Delivery Instructions:

Deliver to laboratory immediately after collection.
